First Contact: 2035 - Rain of terror

Built on an incredible legacy

First Contact: 2035 - Rain of Terror is a 175 player all-day megagame that we run once a year in London. The game features five custom-designed large maps, thousands of professionally created cards and components, many thoughtfully written scenarios that players can use as jumping off points and a kick-ass facilitation team.

Jim Wallman created the ‘Watch The Skies’ megagame in 2014 and afterwards, the community exploded in size due to Shut Up & Sit Down releasing the video of their experience at the game. Jim went on to run Watch The Skies 2, 3 and 4 between 2015-16.

Since that time, we don’t know of any single venue large-scale megagames that have been run, but we changed that with First Contact: 2035.

The universe

First Contact: 2035 is set in 2035 in a world that is similar to ours. Technology has improved and the problems the planet faces have changed, but the world runs as it has done for hundreds of years now, with recognisable governments leading their countries, mostly for the benefit of their citizens.

Into this world, aliens will arrive. What do they want and how will the world’s governments respond? As with everything at the game, that is up to the players, but the facilitation team will help to guide you along the way.

Across the game there are over 50 teams and these range from 27 countries such as the United States to Indonesia, corporations, scientists, the press and the United Nations. There are a large number of roles and you can learn more about them all here.
